Freezing rain expected tonight in Waterloo region and Guelph

Periods of freezing drizzle are in the forecast this evening across Waterloo region and Guelph that could lead to an icy and slippery commute.
A yellow warning from Environment Canada says ice build-up could reach two millimeters before it starts to taper off near midnight.
The freezing rain is part of a low pressure system expected to move into the region late in the afternoon,
“Rain will change to freezing rain early this evening in most areas except immediately along the shore of Lake Ontario where mainly rain with temperatures just above zero is expected,” the warning said.

Environment Canada says it’s expected the freezing rain will change to patchy freezing drizzle or drizzle that could persist into Friday morning.
Roads and sidewalks could become icy and slippery and people are being urged to be careful when out walking or driving.
