Amazon imposing 3.5% fuel surcharge on sellers – National

is imposing a 3.5 per cent “fuel and logistics-related surcharge” on both Canadian and U.S. sellers due to “elevated costs in fuel and logistics.”
“We have absorbed these increases so far, but similar to other major carriers, when costs remain elevated we implement temporary surcharges to partially recover these costs,” an Amazon spokesperson told Global News in a statement.
“We will apply a 3.5 per cent fuel and logistics-related surcharge to fulfillment fees—meaningfully lower than surcharges applied by other major carriers. We remain committed to our selling partners’ success and to maintaining broad selection and low prices for customers.”

The surcharge will kick in on April 17 and “will be applied to fulfillment fees across Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) in the US and Canada as well as to Remote Fulfillment with FBA from the US into Canada, Mexico, and Brazil.”

The surcharge will not be added on the sale price of items, which Amazon states equates to $0.17 per unit for U.S. FBA. This will also vary depending on an item’s size and dimensions.
